ABOUT ELLE BEANGE

I’m a passionate Inclusive Design and Accessibility specialist, currently shaping more equitable experiences as a Service Designer at Deloitte Digital, where I get to blend creativity, empathy and strategy to make the world work better for everyone.This passion is reflected across my personal life, voluntary work and career, and I feel strongly about ensuring all potential end-users are considered and represented within the design process, aligning with the ‘nothing about us, without us’ mantra and advocating for the criticality of intersectional viewpoints. I also hold a Master’s in Disability, Design and Innovation from UCL, which gave me the academic fuel to back up this mission of designing with, not for.My 8-year design journey been broad and colourful, from physical product design (designing and building bespoke assistive equipment), to consulting on accessibility and inclusion across industries, including service and digital design, as well as the built environment. I am happiest when creating inclusive, joyful and human experiences.I have lived experience of disability, and from my personal experience of inaccessibility and exclusion, this affords me a level of empathy that I apply outside of my professional career. I am Holiday Organiser with the Newman Holiday Trust, where I organise and run week-long residential respite holidays for disabled children, easily the highlight of every Summer.As a Service Designer, the things that drive me include: satisfying my natural curiosity to continually learn from others; radically reimagining services to better experience; co-creation and workshop facilitation; working in dynamic, diverse teams; and seeing the spark ignited in people when they feel heard.
