1. Intensive Case Manager and Therapist Intern

   At the Ali Forney Center’s Emergency Housing Program for LGBTQIA+ young adults ages 21–24, I serve in a dual role providing intensive case management and clinical social work services. I support a specialized caseload of clients, including those experiencing chronic and severe mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and histories of complex trauma. My work centers on co-creating individualized service plans that prioritize mental and physical health stabilization, access to essential resources, and long-term housing security. I offer direct therapeutic support through structured counseling sessions, biopsychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, harm reduction-based counseling, and DBT-informed individual skill building. I also design and facilitate a weekly DBT psychoeducational group focused on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. In addition to direct client work, I participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, maintain clinical documentation, coordinate referrals, and engage in ongoing training and development. This role integrates clinical theory with frontline practice, emphasizing trauma-informed, client-centered care for LGBTQIA+ youth navigating homelessness.
