About Ella Windlan

I am a senior honors student, Presidential Scholar, and Social Science Scholar at Florida State University, pursuing a B.S. in International Affairs and a B.A. in Editing, Writing, and Media, with a minor in Criminal Justice.Through internships at the Brennan Center for Justice and the Southern Poverty Law Center, I learned from field-leading experts in civil rights advocacy and criminal-legal reform. For the past three years, I have worked with FSU’s Center on Better Health and Life using community-based participatory research methods to advance health equity across North Florida. Recognized for outstanding service, research, and writing, I have served in FSU’s Student Government Association and Center for Leadership and Service since my first year in college. Throughout my time at FSU, I have logged nearly 800 hours of community service.    Representing FSU\'s student body in the Student Government Executive Cabinet, I build campus partnerships to advance sustainability and environmental justice. I received FSU\'s Advancement Award for dedication in my first term and was subsequently appointed to a second.Key accomplishments include: organizing FSU\'s first Walk, Bike, & Bus to School Day, launching an initiative to improve recycling in residence halls, and tackling campus food insecurity through partnerships with our food pantry. I also serve as the sole student representative on the Faculty Senate Sustainability Committee.
