ABOUT ELLA DODD

I am a community planning professional with experience spanning municipal planning and private-sector land acquisition and development. I currently serve as an Associate Planner with the City of North Charleston, where I work on planning initiatives that support responsible growth, community development, and long-term land use strategies.Prior to this role, I gained experience in the private development sector as a Land Acquisition and Development Intern with Brightland Homes (now DRB Homes) in Austin, Texas, where I supported site evaluation, due diligence, and development planning efforts for residential projects. This experience provided valuable insight into the development process and the collaboration required between planners, developers, and local governments.I hold a Master of Community Planning from Auburn University, where I developed a strong foundation in land use planning, urban development, and community engagement. My professional interests include growth management, housing development, and creating communities that are both economically resilient and livable.I am passionate about bridging the gap between public planning goals and private development realities to help shape communities that are sustainable, well-designed, and responsive to the needs of residents.
