About Eliza McLeod
On April 7, 2025, I began my new role at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as Section Chief for Data and Information in the IMF Library. I’m excited to join the team—many of whom I’ve worked with previously through the longstanding library services sharing agreement between the IMF and the World Bank Group (WBG). I’m enjoying meeting new colleagues, learning more about the Fund’s work, and focusing on data governance, licensing, and reimagining the physical library space as we adapt to the evolving nature of our profession. From July 1, 2024, through March 2025, I served as Acting Manager for the WBG Library and Publishing team, part of the Data Office, which also includes Archives, Information Governance, Data, and AI.I am a passionate librarian with over 30 years of experience, primarily supporting clients across regions and time zones at the World Bank Group. My foundation in librarianship began as a research and reference librarian. At WBG, I led a diverse team of library and information professionals based in Vietnam, India, Kenya, Bulgaria, and the Washington, DC metro area. Together, we supported the institution’s mission through virtual reference services, research support, staff training, knowledge sharing, e-resource management, and innovation—including exploring AI to enhance client service. It’s an honor to continue collaborating with this exceptional team in my new role.I currently serve as the 2024–2025 Chair of UN-LINKS (United Nations Library and Information Network for Knowledge Sharing), a forum for UN system and international organization libraries to exchange best practices in library and information management. UN-LINKS includes libraries, information centers, and knowledge hubs—many with data management responsibilities—and currently represents 44 UN agencies, the IMF, ADB, WBG, and other intergovernmental organizations. On a personal note, I’m deeply interested in adoptee rights, international adoption, and genetic identity. I support the Human Library Organization and have shared my adoptee/birth parent reunion story as a “book” at several events. My short book title is Adopted; the long title is I Am Jim Morrison’s Love Child: Delusions of an Adoptee.Specialties: Research librarian in international development, digital and data fluency.
