Elizabeth Weise is a national correspondent with USA TODAY, based in San Francisco. She\'s been covering COVID-19 vaccine development and distribution since February of 2020. Prior to that, she focused on climate change. She began covering technology as a national writer at the Associated Press. Her first reporting job was as a reporter at KUOW, the National Public Radio affiliate in Seattle. Weise graduated from the University of Washington and attended Lund University in Sweden.    I am a National Correspondent with USA TODAY, based in San Francisco. In 2024 I conceived, investigated and reported a five-part series on county-level efforts to ban or block new, utility-scale wind and solar plants in all 50 states. My reporting revealed it is now effectively impossible to build new utility-scale renewable power in 15% of U.S. counties. The project won awards from Editor & Publisher and the Society of Environmental Journalists.
