Director of Braver Politics at Braver Angels.From personal anecdotes to peer-reviewed research, our workshops and events are proven to increase people’s understanding of each other across divides and reduce the temperature of controversial conversations, ensuring they happen respectfully and restore trust between participants and among observers. Reducing political polarization is only accomplished by restoring trust in each other and in institutions… and that requires relationship and understanding, not isolation and exclusion.

   Providing state and local candidates, elected officials, and staff members across the country listening and communication skills to- Ensure their constituents, including ones they disagree with, feel heard and understood by them- Better communicate with people that are different from themselves, whether that be socio-economically, politically, geographically, in life experiences, or across any other community divide- Bridge political and other divides on controversial issues from whether to build a new bicycle path in your town to how the country should manage immigration.I promote participation in Braver Angels\' moderated town halls and depolarizing workshops to increase workplace cohesion and promote understanding among elected officials, their staff members, and between elected officials, their staff members, and constituents. In doing so, we hope that conversations about political issues will be constructive instead of destructive and that neighbors are more able and willing to trust and rely on each other, believing the best instead of the worst about the intent of people that disagree with them. We assist candidates, elected officials and their constituents in finding common ground where they are unaware it exists, depolarizing political conversations, and helping elected officials and constituents understand and hold space for people with different opinions while respecting and caring for their humanity, even if they still disagree.
