ABOUT ELIZABETH DEARBORN HUGHES
Elizabeth is the Board Chair and Cofounder of Davis College and the Akilah Institute in Rwanda. Opened in 2010, Akilah is the only college for women in Rwanda. In 2020, Davis College opened to offer the transformational education model to both young women and men. Akilah was awarded the WISE Award from the Qatar Foundation in 2019. Newsweek and The Daily Beast named Elizabeth as one of 125 Women of Impact, and Forbes called her one of the World’s Most Influential Female Social Entrepreneurs. She was a Praxis Fellow, and the recipient of the Loebenberg Humanitarian Award. A proud Tampa native, Elizabeth graduated from Berkeley Prep and Vanderbilt University. After living in Rwanda and Hong Kong, she now resides in England.
