Head of BUK Controls Execution Centre of ExcellenceAs the Head of the BUK Controls Execution Centre of Excellence, reporting directly to the BUK Chief Controls Officer, I lead the strategy, governance, and delivery of a unified controls execution capability across Barclays UK. My mission is to build a world‑class controls environment that strengthens resilience, enhances customer trust, and enables the business to operate with clarity and confidence.I bring an unusual but powerful foundation to this role: I come from a sales background, and that remains a core passion of mine. Sales taught me how to understand customers deeply, navigate, influence stakeholders, and drive outcomes at pace. Those same strengths translate seamlessly into proactive risk and control management—where anticipating issues, shaping behaviours, and embedding strong practices across diverse teams is essential. I oversee the design, optimisation, and execution of key control processes, bringing together people, data, and technology to create a scalable, insight‑driven, and future‑ready controls environment. By partnering closely with senior leaders across BUK, I ensure that controls are well‑designed, embedded, evidenced, and continuously improving.My role centres on:• Establishing a Centre of Excellence that defines and drives best‑in‑class across BUK• Delivering operational excellence through streamlined processes, automation, and data‑led insights• Strengthening risk management by ensuring controls are robust, effective, and aligned to regulatory expectations• Building high‑performing teams with deep expertise• Partnering across the business to embed a proactive, forward‑looking controls mindsetI’m passionate about creating environments where teams thrive, where complexity becomes clarity/simplicity and where strong controls enable—not constrain—great customer and colleague outcomes.
