About Elizabeth Woods

By the time I arrived in Berkeley to earn my undergraduate degree, I had called nearly a dozen places across the U.S. ‘home.\' Growing up, my recurring status as a transplant allowed me to clearly see how different environmental, social, and economic determinants made for stark contrasts in the life experiences and expectations of my peers, giving me a tacit understanding of public health concepts long before I had the tools to articulate what I was observing. Taking keen interest in the health outcomes associated with a person’s specific life circumstances has been a throughline of my development and made me a vigilant critic of our systems of public health and healthcare delivery. My lifelong cognizance of avoidable, population-level health disparities ultimately led me to pursue my B.A. in Public Health & Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and MSPH in Health Policy & Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Outside my academic pursuits, I have spent most of my professional career in research-focused roles at public health organizations based in both the San Francisco Bay and Baltimore-Washington D.C. Areas. Every step I\'ve taken in my academic and professional development has been guided by a strong personal commitment to advance health equity across the United States, and I am thrilled to continue to fulfill this commitment in my role as Senior Analyst in Public Health Agency Research at ASTHO (remotely, from Brooklyn, NYC).
