About Elizabeth Hart
As a higher education professional, I balance innovative approaches to student support with thoughtful challenge, approaching every experience as an opportunity for learning—and teaching. In graduate student career development, I see a core part of my role as demystifying the “hidden curriculum” of graduate education. I guide students in navigating complex institutional systems, building meaningful professional relationships, and engaging in experiential learning that strengthens professional skills. I am particularly passionate about helping students explore how their academic training translates to both academic and non-academic career pathways.I earned an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, a B.A. in English from Coastal Carolina University, a Professional Certificate in Online Education from UW–Madison, and a Certificate in Student Affairs Law and Policy through NASPA. I am the author of “Faculty Advisor Perspectives of Academic Advising” (2020), published in the NACADA Journal. This research deepened my interest in the importance—and complexity—of meaningful mentor–mentee relationships in graduate education. My professional experience spans academic advising, learning support, academic program management, teaching and learning, assessment and evaluation, and community-based learning. My research interests include how students, scholars, and staff with disabilities experience academia, as well as the intersection of learning sciences and education policy. I have presented on career and professional development, teaching and learning, and professional and research writing.Across my work, a common thread is my passion for gathering and analyzing information to co-create knowledge with colleagues. Whether collaborating with graduate students, staff, faculty, postdocs, or campus partners, I am committed to strengthening educational environments and improving institutional culture.I place great importance on encouraging those I support to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and come to their own informed conclusions.StrengthsFinder: Input, Learner, Intellection, Achiever, Maximizer
