ABOUT ELIZABETH GOLD
Senior Technical Advisor, Social and Behavior Change, JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. Liz is a social and behavior change (SBC) specialist with 25 years of experience in the design and implementation of evidence-based SBC programs across a range of health and development issues throughout the developing world, with a focus on HIV prevention. Her areas of expertise include: conducting assessments to improve program outcomes; formulating and implementing SBCC strategies; generating demand for services; media training to foster an enabling environment; developing and pretesting communication and counseling materials; developing training curriculum; strengthening interpersonal communication, and building local capacity in SBC. Liz joined JSI in November, 2017 as Senior Technical Advisor, Social and Behavior Change for the AIDSFree project. In this role, she primarily supported AIDSFree country programs in generating demand for HIV prevention services such as voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) and pre-exposure prophylaxis ( PrEP,), and improving the quality of counseling. In addition, she provided technical assistance as requested by USAID to other countries implementing PrEP and VMMC to improve uptake of services and adherence. Her technical assistance has led to measurable change in VMMC service uptake, particularly among the priority age group of men. Liz has 25 years of experience in strategic communications to bring about social and behavior change that enables people to live healthier lives. While her focus has been in HIV prevention, she has also worked in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, health systems strengthening, and democracy and governance. Previous positions also included Senior Technical Advisor at Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (JHCCP) and Senior Technical Advisor for Health Journalism for Internews, a media development NGO.
