As the author of the ‘Meet the Fellows’ series for the Society of Antiquaries of London, I produce long-form, interview-led profiles examining the intellectual trajectories of leading scholars and their work. Through this writing, I foreground and rearticulate the antiquarian impulse - towards objects, archives, and intellectual inheritance - within the contemporary practice of Fellows.

ABOUT ELIZABETH GILKEY

I am an artist, writer, conflict archaeologist, and doctoral student at the University of Oxford, specialising in the infrastructures of psychological warfare, propaganda, and intelligence systems across the World Wars.My work sits at the intersection of the archaeology of modern conflict and warfare, intelligence history and strategic communication, the culture of military propaganda and information systems, and the intersection of gender and participation in wargaming and simulation. I am especially interested in situating intelligence and propaganda within a longue durée genealogy of statecraft, epistemology, and authority.Alongside my doctoral research, I am a published writer, interviewer, podcaster, and public scholar, contributing regularly to the Society of Antiquaries of London and producing research-led media through The Ancient Palate podcast (available on Apple, Spotify and elsewhere), where I draw on my background in Classics and classical archaeology to explore the history and culture of ancient wine.
