About Elizabeth Francis
I am a marine and policy scientist working full-time at the Pew Charitable Trusts on conservation finance for coastal wetland ecosystems. I am also pursuing my PhD at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I explore how financing and policy tools can be used to support the long-term conservation and restoration of blue carbon ecosystems. This research applies particular attention to the use of carbon markets. Alongside my professional and academic work, I teach an undergraduate course in Coastal Zone management and selectively consult on nature-based carbon projects, specifically investor due diligence and policy analysis. I am passionate about bridging the gap between science, policy, and finance to support the development of long-term solutions for people and nature.
