ABOUT ELIZABETH ERBEZNIK
I have always wanted my world to be a bit bigger. Filled with more people. More experiences. More flavors. More voices. More books. Always more books. But, as an educator, I understand that such an onslaught of the new and unfamiliar can be threatening. Disorienting at best. Completely terrifying at worst. So, my work in education has been devoted to removing barriers. When teaching foreign languages (whether English as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Madagascar or French in US college classrooms), I tried to dispel the myth that anyone is \"bad\" at learning languages. There is no mystery to mastering the French \"R\" or verb conjugations. Hard work, yes. But anyone can do that.Likewise, too many students think that an international education experience is not for them. While some barriers are difficult to overcome, my work with WorldStrides Higher Ed has been devoted to chipping away at the academic hurdles that make students think (erroneously!) that it\'s impossible to study abroad and take the coursework needed to graduate on time. With each new study abroad course, or program, or experience, that I\'m a part of creating or implementing, I definitely feel the world grow a little bigger.
