ABOUT ELIZABETH D. KAMARA

Environmental professional with over six years of progressive experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental management, and academic instruction across West and East Africa. My work has focused on bridging science, policy, and community engagement to advance sustainable environmental outcomes.Previously, I served as Senior Director for the Environmental Section at the National Port Authority (NPA) of Liberia, where I led strategic environmental planning, regulatory compliance, and initiatives supporting sustainable port operations.I also worked as Program Manager for the Blue Oceans Program at Conservation International–Liberia, contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems and the resilience of coastal communities through science-based, community-driven conservation approaches.In addition, I served as a Faculty Lecturer at the University of Liberia, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, teaching courses in marine affairs and fisheries science while mentoring emerging conservation professionals.My professional background includes ecological field research, stakeholder engagement, environmental policy support, and capacity building. I have received specialized training in carbon assessment and in combating illegal wildlife trafficking under the CITES framework. My interests lie strongly in ecological and environmental research, with a growing specialization in ocean and marine conservation.I am deeply committed to advancing sustainability and conservation goals in Liberia, across Africa, and globally—by contributing to programs and institutions that integrate sound science, community needs, and effective policy for long-term impact.
