ABOUT ELISSA MUELLER
Energy Professional with 10+ years of experience in energy efficiency, utility operations and renewable integration. I am an engineer with interdisciplinary training and education, a big-picture thinker who has also spent careful time building the skills to consistently and accurately perform highly detail-oriented tasks. I am highly communicative, a skilled technical writer, and I am passionate about utilizing data to drive effective decision making for modern, resilient energy systems. As a Senior Engineer at Consumers Energy, I worked in a data engineering role with the company\'s Electric Supply Forecasting team. My my most recent responsibilities centered around managing the 20-year capacity position forecast - essentially the balance of all projected power generation, against forecasted peak demand for every season. I coordinated closely with operations, Contract Negotiations, Engineering, and Integrated Resource Planning Teams to model over 100 existing and planned generators, identify risks to the company\'s ability to meet future demand, and develop strategies for closing those gaps. I oversaw regulatory filings to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), worked to update internal processes and calculations to align with changing regulations, and communicated the impact of those evolving policies to teams across the company, policymakers and shareholders. Before my role at Consumers Energy I completed my graduate degree at the University of Michigan, where I studied sustainable energy systems. Prior to graduate school, I worked as a mechanical engineer, designing and analyzing energy efficient HVAC systems and assessing energy conservation measures for both commercial and residential buildings. With significant experience analyzing supply and demand-side energy systems and familiarity with state, market and federal energy policies, I bring a systems-thinking approach to energy management. I have a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, build and analyze complex datasets, and drive towards continual improvement.Having relocated to Tennessee in the Fall of 2024, I am looking for a new opportunity in energy resource planning and management. It is my hope to apply my technical and utility industry experience to help meet growing demand and contribute to solving the complex issues facing our energy systems today.
