ABOUT ELISABETH ELLI LOOSE

Championing Respectful Discourse & Active Political Engagement through Research, Advocacy & Debate 🟪As a passionate Research & Engagement Manager, my work centres on advancing respectful political discourse, reducing structural inequalities, and promoting active engagement in public life. Through my role at the John Smith Centre and contributions to the Scottish Women’s Budget Group, I aim to bridge the gap between research, public understanding, and actionable policy. At the John Smith Centre, I focus on developing and communicating research that informs public discourse and promotes positive change. I lead projects designed to address structural inequalities, translating complex findings into accessible insights that resonate with diverse audiences. My aim is to ensure our research sparks meaningful conversations and contributes to restoring public trust in politics and public services.Recent Achievements: BBC Scotland - The Sunday Show: Commented on decline in trust in politics in Scotland and the UK as part of the Covid Enquiry; and further appearance in May 2024 to comment on the UK General Election campaign. Festival of Politics 2024 at the Scottish Parliament: Participated in a panel about the question “Are Standards in Public Life Really Declining?” where I engaged with thought leaders and the audience on issues around declining trust in politics and ways forward. UK Youth Poll 2025 - Lead UK-wide annual research project that highlights and showcases young people\'s views on politics and life in the UK. Launched in Houses of Parliament and a broad media coverage, including \'The Rest is Politics\' Podcast, Good Morning Britain and The Guardian. In addition to my role at the John Smith Centre, I serve on the board of the Scottish Women’s Budget Group (SWBG) where I contribute to advancing gender-responsive budgeting and economic justice. My involvement with SWBG deepens my commitment to ensuring public policy reflects and responds to the lived experiences of women and marginalized groups.Through my media engagements, research initiatives, and public advocacy, my mission is to promote respectful, evidence-based debate that shapes public discourse. By championing research-driven insights, I aim to foster a political culture that values informed dialogue and constructive engagement, building greater engagement with and understanding in the political process.
