R. Eliot Fagley

Effective Feb. 16, Eliot Fagley, MD, started a new role at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health as division director for Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Fagley will be responsible for providing leadership, operational accountability, provider accountability and professional development for critical care services across our Washington hospitals. Dr. Fagley, an intensivist and anesthesiologist who specializes in caring for patients with cardiac, thoracic and pulmonary disease, is no stranger to VMFH. He has been a member of Virginia Mason Medical Center since 2013 and served most recently as the section head for Critical Care Medicine, as well as VMMC’s chief of staff. Additionally, he has led several key initiatives at VMMC that have had profound impacts on the care delivered to the patients in our communities, including the Closed Collaborative Critical Care model, the launch of the ECMO program and devoted work by the Critical Care Quality Collaborative to eliminate patient harm.
