The FFAR Fellows Program provides leadership, professional development, and career guidance to PhD students in food and agriculture-related sciences across the U.S. and Canada. The program supports the next generation of scientists through training, networking opportunities, and mentorship.Over a 3-year period, each cohort of 30 fellows participates in 150 hours of professional development (120 in-person, 30 virtual), including four in-person meetings and monthly virtual sessions. Fellows are co-mentored by university and industry representatives, creating annual professional development plans and establishing mentor-mentee relationships outside academia.Key activities include DISC self-assessments, emotional intelligence training, crucial conversations, teamwork exercises, and strategies for effective communication and productivity. The program aligns with FFAR’s Challenge Areas and strategic initiatives to prepare fellows for impactful careers.
