About Eli McKown-Dawson
I am a senior at Florida State University studying political science with a minor in statistics. I have a strong background in public opinion research and am skilled in advanced data analysis (R and Stata), survey design, quantitative analysis, writing, and research presentation. I primarily study survey methodology, voting behavior, and online polling methods. After graduating, I will attend the London School of Economics and Political Science to pursue an MSc Statistics (Social Statisitcs)(Research). In my academic work, I have created latent variable models of voters’ beliefs about ballot secrecy for peer-reviewed publications and used panel data and an original survey experiment to assess how mobile device usage in online surveys impacts response quality and measurement error in my undergraduate thesis. I also design, field, and analyze public opinion surveys by sampling from voter registration files, and design the weights for these surveys. In my more public-facing work, I work for YouGov to write and analyze public opinion polls on Americans\' attitudes toward politics, policy, and current events. I also write articles for YouGov\'s website describing the company\'s survey methodology and am currently working to re-write the firm\'s methodology documents and index its data with the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research.
