I am proud to say that I genuinely adore my engineering work, starting with my roots in a family business focused on residential/commercial generators and off-grid solar systems to my present-day focus on clean energy generation and complex power systems ranging from commercial and industrial to utility scale. I love what I do. I take great pride in my work.I am in my third decade of direct, hands-on experience spanning the full life-cycle of power generation and clean energy, in a variety of roles: development, design, field commissioning, operations, and maintenance. Areas of interest include generators at any scale, electrical protection & control, paralleling switchgear, as well as substation automation and mechanical process controls. In particular, I enjoy bringing all of these skillsets and equipment together into a clean, coherent, and high-performance system.I find that one of my most unique and useful qualities is my flexibility: I have worked with systems ranging from modern IED\'s using cutting-edge communications protocols to hydraulic governor controls originally installed in the early 1900\'s. I enjoy the challenge of walking into a new environment, quickly coming up to speed with the system, tools, personalities, and application-specific requirements involved so that I can bring the team together, efficiently get work done, and make the project successful. I enjoy learning how a new piece of equipment works, working with a wide variety of people, and like to creatively find ways to use old tools in a new way to solve a problem.

Specifically, we focus on providing Electrical Engineering and Systems Integration services for renewable and clean power (hydro, wind, waste-to-energy, CHP, solar, and energy storage) as well as substation P&C projects. Newtility excels at finding solid, creative solutions to the most challenging issues that arise in industrial and utility projects: from integrating modern controls with vintage electro-mechanical systems to navigating today\'s complex communications-based automation systems, we can help you take control of your power!Typical project responsibilities include concept development, equipment sizing and selection, electrical protection & control system design, protective relay settings, SCADA/HMI software development, PLC programming, equipment provision, and startup services.For several clients I also serve as Owner\'s Engineer, providing guidance in the realms of electrical power systems, control, and automation.
