ABOUT ELENA SIMPERL
I am a professor of computer science at King\'s College London, working in human-centric AI and director of research at the Open Data Institute. I am also a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a former Turing Fellow. According to AMiner, I am in the top 100 most influential scholars in knowledge engineering of the last decade, as well as in the Women in AI ranking. Before joining King\'s in 2020, I held positions at Southampton, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany Semantic Technologies Institute (STI) Innsbruck, Austria. In my career I led 14 national and international research and innovation grants, and contributed to 26 more; currently, I am the scientific and technical lead of MediaFutures, a 3-year European programme that works with startups and artists to tackle misinformation and disinformation with data and AI technologies. I\'ve co-authored more than 200 papers on knowledge graphs, knowledge engineering, open data, social computing, crowdsourcing, and human-in-the-loop architectures. I was also the chair of the European and International Semantic Web Conferences, The Web Conference, the European Data Forum, and the conference in human computation and crowdsourcing (HCOMP).
