I currently lead the London based US Business Tax group’s alternative investment management unit with a primary focus on US and European based funds focused on private debt. I service funds focused on direct lending, loan origination, securitization, and traditional private equity. My experience covers areas of fund structuring and implementing transparent/blocked entities, underlying investment due diligence, FDAP/ECI withholding, fund of funds, and debt/equity analysis.• Advise clients on optimal US tax structuring including implications of ongoing compliance and information reporting requirements for structure optimization based on client risk profiles • Oversee US tax compliance engagements on various fund structures such as master feeder, securitization, leveraged blocker, fund of fund, and distressed portfolios • Undertake tax due diligence and red flag analysis of new investments and present alternative structuring• Design, program, and deploy workpaper review templates and review toolbar solutions for Excel in VBA on an ongoing basis factoring in US tax reform• Team with stakeholders to establish realistic expectations, tax positions, and milestones while achieving targeted deadlines• Support and develop cross-border engagement teams through technical training sessions on topics such as carried interest, and debt/equity analysis • Interface directly with client’s asset managers to relay expectations for IRRs, compliance requirements, and repatriation opportunitiesDeloitte UK\'s US Business Tax group is the largest full-service US international tax advisory team outside of the continental US.
