About Eleanor Richard
I am a junior studying Engineering Physics at Cornell University. My research interests lie in light-matter interactions and the optical control of materials. In Dr. Ankit Disa\'s lab at Cornell, I designed and built an optical set-up based on the magneto-optic Kerr effect to study light-induced magnetization. I also conducted terahertz spectroscopy on various materials to study their phonon spectra. I have been awarded three grants for my work in Dr. Disa\'s lab by Cornell Engineering Learning Initiatives. In the summer of 2023, I was a WAVE fellow and a QuantumSURF fellow at Caltech. In Dr. David Hsieh\'s lab, I conducted terahertz spectroscopy on Mott-Hubbard insulators to uncover novel quantum phenomena. A paper I authored on my summer work has been accepted in the Caltech Undergraduate Research Journal.I am interested in continuing my education and research in light-matter interactions.
