As the RN Coordinator for the Transplant Program within the John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center, I support patients through the earliest and most medically complex phases of kidney transplant evaluation. I coordinate diagnostic testing, multidisciplinary clearances, and education to ensure each candidate progresses safely and efficiently through the transplant pathway.My role bridges clinical nursing, patient advocacy, and systems coordination. I work closely with transplant surgeons, nephrologists, social workers, and the broader care team to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and maintain compliance with CMS, UNOS, and institutional standards. I also contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and help strengthen patient experience and outcomes within our transplant program.

I have been a nurse since 1986. Almost four decades at the bedside, in the the thick of all of it, giving everything this profession asks for, and it asks for a lot.There came a point where I almost walked away. From nursing. From a doctoral program I had fought hard to be in. From all of it.
