About Elaheh Babaei

I’m a Multidisciplinary Designer and MFA Graduate in Graphic Design with a background in architecture, passionate about exploring the intersection of art, technology, and human-centered design. My work blends UI/UX, product design, visual storytelling, digital fabrication, and parametric pattern design, creating experiences that are both meaningful and innovative.During my MFA, I focused on designing parametric patterns using traditional motifs, culminating in a thesis that combined digital experimentation and interactive design. For my final exhibition, I created an interactive piece and applied my patterns across multiple media — including 3D-printed mesh, pen plotting on cardboard, posters, and a comprehensive motif book — documenting both pattern creation and design processes. This research also explored connections with Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), bridging traditional aesthetics with modern digital interaction.Alongside my thesis, I developed Tokmeh Couture, a fashion project inspired by Iranian architecture, where I handcrafted ceramic buttons and designed the branding and packaging. Tokmeh Couture received international recognition, including a Silver Award from the International Design Awards (IDA), an Honorable Mention from Graphis New Talent Awards, and the A&A Gold Medal for Creative Achievement from Penn State.I thrive at the intersection of digital and physical design, and I’m eager to bring my skills in pattern systems, UI/UX, product development, and visual storytelling to collaborative projects where creativity meets impact.
