Elad Shenfeld is a Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist with the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) where he works on emergency preparedness and response. In this capacity, Elad focuses on providing on-demand technical assistance and advisory activities to World Bank task teams and client countries interested in strengthening emergency preparedness and response systems and increasing resilience to disasters and climate change. Elad is also the Task Team Leader of a technical assistance activity on promoting the use of contingent financing in the World Bank’s investment projects, in connection with a Just-in-Time facility which he established and implemented to support in-country contingency planning. He is also involved in the World Bank’s work on post-disaster assessments and disaster recovery frameworks, which he has delivered in several countries in addition to conducting dialogues on Disaster Risk Management matters with governments and development partners.
