About Jean Keating

Let\'s see. I eat too many cupcakes. I\'m a fast reader and a slow writer. I won a global fitness challenge and sadly lost all my baby weight. After months of concerted searching, I found my gorgeous jiggles hiding in a caramel cupcake or three! I love to laugh. I detest small talk and I\'m an expert at turning it into large talk. Y\'know, the questions that unravel us: who you are and how you want to be remembered. I never turn down pizza or hot sauce. Or a combo of the two.(Try it.)I wrote a still incomplete, experimental (yes, that means it\'s terrible), dystopian novel that was my graduate master thesis. I make the World\'s Best Pancakes (and that\'s how I want to be remembered). I\'m a lawyer mostly so I can say \'lawyered\'. Trinidad & Tobago saved my life. I never forget to say I love you. Midway in my master\'s, I had my extremely rad son, and I moved from Toronto to NYC, and then to Los Angeles, where I\'m still defrosting from Canadian winters. At the tail end of 2020, I jump started my career by not screwing up (despite excessive giddiness and sweatiness) an internship at the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and casting gig for ABC. These days, I delight in my role assisting with the moving poetry that is the award-winning promos, trailers and marketing campaigns, produced by FX’s stellar in-house team. In my spare time (who has spare time?), and when I’m not chasing my six-year-old around, I write spoken word poems for the screen and read, read, read, bake, paint, dance, and fail miserably at meditation. Nothing upsets me more than inequity, racism, injustice, and the criminalization of poverty. Ask me about sci-fi, black lives matter, superheroes, comedy (stand-up, satire, the scripted surreal and too real realism), curls, politics, soca, prolific poets, anything remotely related to food, and the meaning of life. PS: I contend the meaning of life is a combo of the following:coconut oil + art in all its forms + the jade in the breaking tide + belly laughs + your fave song + the book on your nightstand + snuggles + awkward silence with strangers in the elevator +(what happens in life\'s pauses and parentheses)+ the people you kiss goodnightP.P.S.(I have a penchant for parentheses.(;)
