At OVO, I managed software engineering teams within Insurance Operations, focusing on various transformation projects.• OHS Data Warehouse: Architected and implemented a robust data warehouse solution using Google BigQuery and Dataform in a three-layer architecture. This system aggregates data from various sources, including static files, webhooks, and real-time streams via Kafka. The warehouse supports comprehensive business analysis through detailed Looker dashboards, providing insights across the organisation. Worked with stakeholders to create data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) and catalogues to help implement a straightforward data governance strategy.• Accelerated Migration: Spearheaded a mission-critical project to migrate customers to the new Aurora system, saving the company from incurring £12M per annum in renewal charges.• Improved Communication Process: Overhauled the workflow for business communications and documentation, streamlining processes, and eliminating inefficiencies. This involved formalising procedures and integrating automated solutions where possible.• Notes Implementation: Successfully delivered and migrated legacy notes into the Aurora system. Managed significant mid-development requirement changes and navigated complex stakeholder negotiations using Azure Data Factory and Python for data transformation and integration.• Management: Facilitate and oversee the backlog and daily activities for project squads, collaborating with them to plan, design, develop, and implement new projects within Product & Tech. Track delivery status, manage risks and issues, and report to stakeholders as needed. Work with SEMs, Domain Leads, and the Head of Tech to set and communicate the technical agenda for guiding the squad’s roadmaps.Technologies: Google BigQuery, Dataform, Kafka, Looker, Azure Data Factory, Python.
