About Eric Henson
I\'m a Policy Advisor for City of San Diego Council District 4, representing Greater Southeast San Diego. My areas of focus are Land Use, Transportation and Environmental Review. As a former skateboarder, vacant lots and abandoned buildings always captured my eye for potential land-use and transformation. Also, as an avid rider of public transportation, I found myself often concerned about the gaps in public transportation coverage in communities that lie along the urban fringe, which is important for connectivity and public safety. Ironically, these concerns I had about the built environment I grew up in influenced my desire to work in the urban planning field. A moment that defined my aspirations to serve in the urban planning and community development field was when I attended various community planning meetings and realized the language of the planning field is complex. The language should be communicated in a way that is understandable for all, so that everyone can be more engaged in the planning process that shapes or reshapes their environment.
