In this role I led team members in seven McClatchy newsrooms in the Carolinas, in Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Rock Hill and Hilton Head, in developing and executing audience growth strategies, including story selection and coaching in reporting and writing techniques for editors and reporters; use of analytics; SEO and social media practices; reader loyalty strategies; and audience engagement techniques. When McClatchy made an early retirement offer in February 2019, I accepted it to explore other opportunities.
