About Eric Forteza Romero
Eric Forteza serves as the Staff Assistant for the Democratic Staff of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, supporting all subcommittees through research, writing, stakeholder engagement, and logistical coordination in preparation for meetings, briefings, hearings, and markups.Before returning to the Hill, Eric worked as a Manager of Congressional Affairs at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). In this role, he supported the Government Affairs team in advocating for pro-solar and workforce development policies at the federal level, driving efforts to transform the energy economy and positioning solar to reach 30% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. During his time at SEIA, Eric advocated for the solar energy tax credits and led meetings with Congressional Members and staff. Prior to these roles, Eric interned with the Democratic Staff of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the House of Representatives. In 2023, he worked as a legislative intern for the Office of Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries through the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s summer internship program. He also served as a policy intern for the City of Miami Mayor’s Office through the Institute of Politics Director’s Internship program.In addition to his policy work, Eric has been deeply involved in grassroots organizing. He co-founded Rhizome, a non-partisan nonprofit organization focused on activating young people\'s identities into action and helping youth treat civic service as the work of a lifetime. He initially served as the Miami-Dade Regional Organizer before becoming a Strategic Coordinator, where he used data analytics to report key metrics, highlight achievements, and recommend data-based strategies for growth. Eric also worked as a Community Organizer for UN-PAC, advocating for federal legislation to expand voting access and strengthen democracy.Eric graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Government on the Data Science track and a Secondary in History. At Harvard, he served as President of Harvard Undergraduate Democracy Matters, an Organizing Fellow for Harvard Votes Challenge, and a Finance Manager at Cabot Café. He was involved in several organizations, including the Harvard Political Union, Campaigns and Advocacy Program, Community Action Committee, Harvard Undergraduate Latinxs in Finance & Technology, Harvard Cuban-American Undergraduate Students Association. Additionally, he worked as a Course Assistant for Government 50, the introductory Government course for data science.
