Bristol, GB
Since joining Aardman as its youngest Creative Director 17 years ago, my roles, responsibilities, and accomplishments are many. As a board member, I share responsibility for the overall success of Aardman. My duties encompass financial oversight, creative leadership, and the welfare and safety of all employees. My unique contribution is in driving innovation and leveraging technology to enhance company operations and creative output. Highlights include: crisis management during COVID19, organisational design for a company-wide restructure, rollout of a communication & collaboration process, and co-authoring Aardman’s ED & I Charter.()I have led the majority of development in non-linear formats, which include original Aardman IP, reinvention of existing IP, and partnerships with major clients like BBC, Sky, Disney, Meta, Roald Dahl, and Science Museum. Highlights include: supporting the creation of Aardman’s first new game IP, bringing multiple game initiatives from concept to publisher deal, and reviving Morph via Kickstarter.()Over the years, I have directed and provided creative oversight across a diverse range of projects, from XR to games, location-based entertainment to setting up creative communities. Highlights include: developing a new transmedia IP with Bandai Namco, directing the Tate Movie Project, and working on W&G’s Grand Adventure. As founder and sponsor of the newly formed R&D team, I work across all pillars of the company to find, unlock, and create R&D opportunities and solutions. Highlights include: designing and implementing a new R&D pipeline, securing a major R&D project looking at virtual production at a model scale, and co-leading the AI & Generative Technology team.

ABOUT DANIEL EFERGAN
An Executive Creative Director with unique experience across the full gamut of strategy, development and delivery. Specialising in emerging platforms for entertainment companies, with 25+ years experience of helping them navigate the increasingly complex and fragmented industry. I’m currently Executive Creative Director of Gaming, Interactive and Innovation at Aardman Animations. Sitting on the executive board, I’ve shepherded Aardman through many years of intensive change, from setting up early social spaces (now flourishing with millions of subscribers), to building Aardman’s interactive department and Aardman’s in-house game studio (and winning multiple awards), to most recently setting up and sponsoring Aardman’s first R&D team and programme. I’ve been instrumental in the conception and delivery of BAFTA winning interactive projects such as the Tate Movie Project and World of Invention, and have led or supported many others, including the (twice) BAFTA nominated debut console game, 11-11 Memories Retold. Prior to Aardman, my entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of multiple companies. Starting my first while still studying at university, I co-founded Submerge, a festival to celebrate and nurture the emerging digital creative industries. Over the following years I continued in a similar vein, involved in setting up multiple production companies, even one specialist recruitment agency. What links all of these endeavours is my drive to comprehend the latest technical innovation, my knowledge and empathy to understand how these innovations will affect the world, and the creative flair to build beautiful and compelling products into the new spaces they create. Here’s some Efergan-based stats:* 26 Years Experience.* 20+ awards from across the creative industries, including D & AD, Royal Television Society, TIGA, Broadcast, BIMA, Webby, and Design Week.* 5 BAFTA Nominations, 2 BAFTA Wins.* 1st Class Honours Degree.* 100+ projects delivered.* 30+ Talks, at venues like TedX, CMC, MIPCOM, TIFF Kids, BAFTA Guru.* 10+ Mentees.* 10+ Awards Judged, including BAFTA, Kidscreen and Emmys.
