ABOUT ROBERT EDWARDS
Rob is a Senior Consultant within Oxera’s Regulation and Market Design team. He also contributes to Oxera’s behavioural economics practice and Oxera’s Competition team. His work focuses primarily on financial services, digital markets and the transport sector. Rob has particular expertise in pricing and incentive design, and the interactions with competition and regulation - with a PhD focused on pricing and consumer decision-making.He has delivered training on pricing and behavioural economics for a range of audiences, including presenting at Oxera’s bi-annual Utility Regulation and Finance course.Former Academic: Rob spent several years in academia after obtaining his first permanent lectureship age 25, whilst collaborating with consultants and providing independent advisory services on Pricing and Competitive Strategy. During his work an independent consultant, Rob gained particular experience working with Venture Capital Start-ups and SME\'s. This includes developing optimal pricing models, monetising new products and services, monetising network effects and designing effective price promotions, His ESRC funded PhD (Economics) combined Behavioural Economics and Industrial Organisation Pricing Models to investigate biases in consumer purchasing and switching behaviour, optimal pricing strategies, framing effects and tariff design, and the effects of regulatory policies designed to enhance market competition. His work has been published in academic journals (including Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Mathematical Economics, International Journal of Game Theory, Theory & Decision).He presents on Pricing and Competition internationally, including across France, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, Russia and UK, and he has served on the scientific committees for various conferences including the Association of Southern European Economic Theorists. Rob has experience of delivering economics courses to a range of audiences including University programmes in Industrial Economics, Economics and Management, with class sizes in the range of 40-500 participants. He was recognised in 2023 with a University of Nottingham Lord Dearing award for teaching excellence.
