ABOUT EDWARD ACHEAMPONG

Scientific research and evaluation is a key to economic competitiveness and to the technological breakthroughs that improve lives. New leaders in research must illuminate new ways forward while reducing risk and enhancing effectiveness. My name is Edward Acheampong and as a dedicated thought leader and innovator, I drive progressive research that improves public health and informs the development of products that enhance lives. A 14+ years’ accomplished Senior Research Scientist with expertise in HIV Neuropathogenesis, Cell and Molecular Biology, I have extensive experience mentoring cross-functional teams and managing multiple biomedical research projects from conception to execution on a timely, cost-effective basis. I have a reputation for innovative, disruptive research initiatives (11+ studies) that have generated $1M+ in research grants to date.My areas of interest are Project Management, Infectious Diseases, Clinical Biotechnology and Vaccine Development. I am well adept with T cell biology and have a strong understanding of the theory and techniques of immunology, genomics, protein and antibody production, cell-based functional assays, mammalian vector construction, targeted gene delivery, optimization of in vitro diagnostic assays, and the development of novel anti-viral molecules and therapeutic compounds. Tackling challenging projects and intricate scientific questions is both an opportunity for personal growth and a chance to make exciting, potentially disruptive breakthroughs. My philosophy is to “be creative and be consistent,” developing realistic plans and keeping detailed records while managing initiatives, risks and rewards. I am looking for my next opportunity to make an impact on the lives of patients. Feel free to connect with me here on LinkedIn.
