About Edward Yatco
Dr. Edward Yatco is the Medical Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery and the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He is a board certified surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and robotic bariatric and general surgery. Dr Yatco has performed laparoscopic obesity surgery since 2002. He performs minimally invasive robotic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass and Modified Duodenal Switch (SIPS, SADI, SADS, looped DS). He specializes in bariatric surgery revisions including conversion from Gastric Bypass to Modified Duodenal Switch and Conversion from Lap Band to Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass or Modified Duodenal Switch. He is among the first surgeons to perform a conversion from gastric bypass to modified duodenal switch (SIPS) using the da Vinci Xi surgical robot. He also specializes in minimally invasive robotic general surgery including gastrointestinal surgery, hernia repair and antireflux surgery. Before coming to Valley Hospital, he served as the Assistant Director of Bariatric Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City for 14 years. Dr. Yatco began his career as a principal bariatric surgeon at The Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York and was involved in the training of medical students and residents in general surgery and instructed surgical fellows on how to perform bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at The Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at The New York Medical College and as a clinical instructor for The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He has published numerous articles and has spoken at national conferences on the subjects of laparoscopic surgery and obesity surgery.Dr. Yatco was named in the 20••••05 edition of Strathmore’s Who’s Who.
