ABOUT EDWARD SIMON CRUZ
I am a junior pursuing a dual degree program in journalism and secondary teaching (with a competency area in English) at Northwestern University\'s Medill School of Journalism and School of Education and Social Policy. This program enables me to explore both storytelling and education as powerful tools for empowering people to use their voices. In addition to education and advocacy work, I have written for various publications across high school and college, including The Daily Northwestern. I am proactive and passionate, and my skills in writing, teaching, teamwork, and leadership will enable me to thrive in future employment opportunities. I hope to continue refining my skills as a reporter, editor, educator, and writer in both the Evanston and New Jersey communities; in doing so, I can present both journalistic stories and educational lessons that highlight underrepresented voices and encourage people to use their voices for advocacy and self-expression.
