Adjunct Faculty Member providing undergraduate instruction in various Criminal Justice Courses. The Criminal Justice Program at Salem International University provides a large variety of courses in the CJ program. Some of the courses that I am or will be involved with include:CJU205 – Criminal Law A study of the history and sources of criminal law coupled with an analysis of the substantive elements of specific offenses.CJU215 – Police Operations This course will introduce students to the basic police functions. It will include exploration of the philosophical and historical development of the police, police roles, types of patrol, community oriented policing, volunteer policing, and crime prevention techniques. CJU350 – Criminology The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of the discipline of criminology through an examination of its theories, basic assumptions and definitions. The course also examines the causes of crime. CJU405 – Constitutional Law This course will take an in-depth look at important cases that have passed through the U.S. Supreme Court. Their historical and political impact on the criminal justice system will be explored.CJU445 – Courtroom Testimony and Report Writing A study of law enforcement report writing and the various writing styles. Topics will include courtroom testimony and a survey of techniques used by prosecutors and defense attorneys in direct and cross examination. CJU449 – Criminal Justice Management This course covers modern management theory in criminal justice and presents the application of management techniques appropriate to each area of the criminal justice system. Among the key topics are civil liability, political power, ethics, and interagency cooperation.
