ABOUT ED FISHER

I have a deep interest in single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) and Si-PM designs having completed my PhD in 2015. I have extended this to include the history of these devices from 1900 to 1969 and I\'m slowly compiling the history for the 70s to 90s.I have a deep interest in microelectronic systems design from Specifications, Modelling, ASIC Design, Experimental Work, to PCB/Firmware/Software Design. I have been using FPGAs for digital system design since approx 2008. I have developed measurement instrumentation to tackle a number of metrology challenges.Interests in Imaging Technologies, Single-Photon Detection, Reconfigurable Systems, Optical Communications, Tomography and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), SPADs, Si-PMs, technology history, engineering education, RADAR and SONAR and some analogue system design (filters, amplifiers, wireline data communications etc).Currently transitioning into RADAR from a brief spell within the SONAR field. I have an interest in imaging and spectroscopy, having worked with digital image sensors, 3D cameras, biological sample electrical impedance spectroscopy, gas-species spectroscopy using tunable diode-laser techniques and I am a published landscape, portraiture and news/media photographer.
