ABOUT EDWARD LEIDA

I am an award winning creative director and graphic designer with over 20 years of experience in the branding identity space which includes corporate, retail, beauty, lifestyle, men’s and women’s fashion and publishing. I most recently served as VP, Design Director of Barneys New York where I built a multi-disciplinary team that was responsible for all aspects of Branding Identity, Advertising and Marketing initiatives, both digital and in print. In addition, I oversaw the design of all wayfinding, signage systems and graphics for in-store activations for all Barneys properties across the US and abroad. Prior to arriving at Barneys New York, I was responsible for an award winning re-brand of Hearst Magazine’s oldest title, the 165 year old Town & Country Magazine. A complete overhaul of the magazine included a top to bottom redesign as well as the introduction of a new stable of photographers, illustrators, typographers and stylists.Earlier in my career, I was responsible for redesigning and overseeing the look and feel of W Magazine, as well as the stable of consumer and trade publications under Conde Nast, including Details, Jane and Women’s Wear Daily.I have been awarded numerous design awards for my design and art direction from the Society of Publication Designers, The Type Directors Club, American Institute of Graphic Designers and Art Directors Club of New York. I have been nominated twice by the Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards for Lifetime Achievement. I hold an Honorary Doctorate/PHD from Kean University for my contributions to the design industry and have taught and spoken at Columbia University, The School of Visual Arts, Parsons, Pratt, The Atlanta Magazine Association and Magazine Publishers of America.
