Responsible for executing clinical engineering operations at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford and six Ascension St. Thomas Regional Hospitals including equipment management, inventory, repair and service plans for critical medical equipment. Manages clinical engineering equipment, staff, budgeting, P/L, for hospital facilities, multiple surgery centers, and assigned Ascension Medical Group locations. Consults with clinical department directors, hospital senior leadership team and hospital corporate administration on equipment procurement, availability, and maintenance. Assists clinical managers to budget for the purchase and installation of new equipment. Directs equipment replacement cycle based the institution’s maintenance history and/or industry experience. Determines most appropriate type of maintenance considering in-house, OEM, and third-party resources. Manages the institution’s clinical equipment inventory to determine spare equipment options for every day and emergent requirements. Employs exceptional customer service skills ensuring critical clinical customers’ needs are met as fully as resources allow. Supervises Biomedical Engineering technical staff responsible for performing troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and calibration of sophisticated electronic patient care equipment, including life support, communications, networking components, electronic control systems, and general electronic equipment support. Responsible for hiring, training, discipline, suspension, layoff, and evaluation of this staff. Develops and maintains the department budget, its capital equipment inventory, and maintenance of the institution’s clinical equipment maintenance records. Responsible for the orientation and training of all staff, including probationary and temporary employees assigned to the Clinical Engineering Department.
