ABOUT EDWARD CRONAN

I\'m a specialist IP barrister and in 2023 was \'Junior IP Barrister of the Year\', at least according to Managing IP. According to Legal 500 I\'m a \'Rising Star\' and I\'m also recommended by Juve Patent, where it\'s said that I\'m \"very good for complex topics\". My recent cases include: AIM Sport v Supponor [2023] EWHC 164 (Pat)- I acted for AIM Sport in their successful patent infringement claim against Supponor, in relation to pitch-side virtual advertising technology. Nokia v OPPO & OnePlus [2022] EWHC 2814 (Pat) – I acted for Nokia, who were successful in the first UK technical trial of this multinational patent dispute. I also act on the FRAND licensing side of the proceedings. Carku v NOCO [2022] EWHC 2034 (Pat): I represented Carku, who successfully argued that NOCO’s use of the Amazon IP complaints procedure gave rise to unjustified threats of patent infringement - the first High Court trial on this issue. Advanced Bionics v MED-EL [2022] EWHC 1345 (Pat) and [2023] EWCA Civ 637 – I acted for Advanced Bionics in their successful bid to revoke a patent relating to an MRI-compatible medical device, recently upheld on appeal. Neurim v Teva [2022] EWHC 954 (Pat) – I acted for Teva, who successfully resisted an application by Neurim for an interim injunction to restrain Teva from selling its generic prolonged-release Melatonin product. Commscope v SOLiD Technologies [2022] EWHC 769 (Pat) – I acted for SOLiD, who were the successful party in this patent trial relating to digital DAS technologies for point to multipoint distribution of RF telecommunications over fibre optic cables. For up to date information regarding my practice and other recent cases please visit my chambers\' website at For up to date information about my availability please contact the clerks at Hogarth Chambers, who can be reached at 02•••••••04, or at c•••••@hogarthchambers.com. I believe strongly that the bar should be open to all. If you are a student considering a career at the bar, particularly in IP, then I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. The same is true for any solicitors considering transferring to the bar.
