Edward B. Carey (Ed) is the Global Consulting Leader for the Deloitte Special Acquisition Services Group, which provides M&A consulting, financial advisory and tax services to Private Equity clients. Ed and his global team advise Private Equity and Portfolio Company executives on complex, cross-border transactions (acquisitions, carve-outs, and mergers) and performance improvement programs. Ed has advised on ~200 M&A transactions, including successful acquisition transactions with a combined deal value of over $100 billion. Previously, Ed held senior Deloitte leadership roles including Vice Chairman Deloitte; National Managing Partner, US Industries; Chairman and Managing Partner, Global Consumer Business Practice; and Global and US Managing Partner, Deloitte Consulting Retail and Consumer Products Practice. He has 35+ years of consulting experience serving clients in the Consumer, Industrial, Financial, Private Equity, Technology and Healthcare sectors in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Ed’s work focuses on improving revenue growth and EBITDA through strategy, M&A, organization, operations improvements, SG & A cost takeout, support function optimization, and IT transformation. Ed has deep M&A experience in acquisitions, carve outs, and mergers, and expertise in company targeting, diligence, standalone costs, purchase negotiations, TSAs, cross-border execution, integration/synergy capture, DAY1/DAY2 readiness, stranded costs, and performance improvement programs. Ed holds a B.S. Accountancy with High Honors and an MBA Finance from the University of Illinois, and is a CPA. Ed is a member of The Chicago Club, the Economic Club of Chicago, and the AICPA. He is active in the New York and Chicago business communities, and supports charitable activities for education of under resourced students and animal welfare. His business views have been featured in the New York Times, WSJ, Chicago Tribune, CNN, CNBC, and Consulting Magazine. Ed and his family reside in Lake Forest, IL.
