ABOUT EDUARDO VASCONCELOS GOYANNA FILHO

Eduardo Vasconcelos Goyanna Filho graduated from Harvard University, with a double concentration in Government (Cum Laude) and Economics on the Honors Track. Eduardo has consistently demonstrated a commitment to public service, social innovation, and the field of development studies throughout his academic journey.On campus, Eduardo served as co-president of the Harvard Association for Cultivating Inter-American Democracy, where he organized an annual debate forum for about a thousand Latin American students over three years. In this role, Eduardo facilitated dialogue among students from 12 countries and led the production of more than 500 pages of research about sustainable development in Latin America by Harvard students. His leadership extends to the Brazil Conference at Harvard and MIT, where he administered the world\'s largest conference on Brazilian development. In 2024, Eduardo managed a budget of and oversaw a diverse team of students from twenty-eight universities. In the year of Eduardo’s co-presidency, 2024, the conference achieved record numbers of 140 speakers and 1,200 attendees. Eduardo’s past experience includes an internship at the World Bank’s corporate social responsibility team, where he was responsible for conducting due diligence for a multimillion-dollar funding program for NGOs across the world and organizing significant events such as the Nelson Mandela International Day. In summer 2023, Eduardo was a Public Policy Intern at the Central Bank of Thailand, where he analyzed vast datasets and conducted focus group discussions with small-scale farmers across all regions of Thailand to develop sustainable microfinance strategies. His dedication to community service is particularly evident through his founding of the Program Young Peacebuilders in Public Schools, a leading NGO in Brazil whose mission is to reduce peer-to-peer violence in schools across Brazil. Currently, the organization trains student-peacebuilders in eight different Brazilian states and annually hosts the National Conference for Peace in Schools. Eduardo’s scholarly rigor has been recognized through various awards and fellowships. He has a full ride scholarship at Harvard, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in the category of Science and Education for Brazil, and a recipient of Harvard’s flagship program for students who are social innovators. His dedication to public service and leadership has also been acknowledged through the Wendell Phillips Memorial Scholarship Award by the Dean of Harvard College and the Davis Projects for Peace Award.
