ABOUT EDUARDO TORRES

Eduardo Torres-Diaz is a child welfare professional and immigrant rights advocate committed to strengthening families and transforming systems from within.Through his work at the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and as Vice President of LULAC Council 47013, Eduardo supports children, youth, and immigrant families navigating complex government systems. He leads community-based rapid response networks and youth civic engagement initiatives, fostering cross-sector partnerships that center dignity and access. His work involves close collaboration with various cities and school districts across the state, ensuring that local systems remain responsive to the families they serve.As a son of immigrants who grew up in Vancouver, Washington, Eduardo brings lived experience directly into policy conversations and institutional spaces. His advocacy extends to the national level through LULAC National, where he has traveled to Washington, D.C. on multiple occasions to advocate for policy changes and train the next generation of leaders. Whether navigating federal agencies like ORR and DHS or working on the ground in SW Washington, he utilizes his background in de-escalation and leadership development to build authentic trust across government, nonprofits, and the community.Eduardo is a 2025 General C. Marshall Award recipient who believes that when families are informed, supported, and connected, entire communities rise.
