Most networkers find my background as an Air Force fighter pilot who has a doctorate in physics, and functions as chief technologist for huge defense contractors and start-up consulting operations very unique. Serving as a university professor, military officer, and executive within Fortune 200 companies provides me with an interesting perspective on the relationship between leadership, management, and the achievement of organizational success in both the fiscal and personnel spheres.    My job moved to Tampa and I chose not to relocate. I was very tired of chasing dollars for defense contractors, so I decided to retire. Out of the blue, I was contacted by BETA. Initially I decided just to hear what they had to say. After an hour Zoom interview, I decided to accept an offer to visit the site for two days. I was HOOKED. Started work just over two weeks from first hearing about the company. If you\'ve read the book Built to Last, this is one of those companies! The vibe! The vision! The leadership! The business model! The people! worth coming out of retirement for! I\'ll be running their operations in Springfield working with AFRL and AFMC. Business development when you really believe in the company is a treat!
