   First Due

   In the summer of 2014, I invented a first of its kind SaaS based platform called First Due to transform emergency fire response through innovative data access. First Due enables firefighters to respond more safely and efficiently to both emergency and non-emergency incidents by bridging the deadly information gap that exists for the people who need it most. Think of First Due as OpenData plus SaaS (Software as a Service) plus Emergency Response. The 2014 proof of concept integrated with County GIS, Assessor, Fire Marshal Data, Fire Communication information, online weather services, real estate sites, social media and one of the largest town building departments in the United States and created a dynamically generated “13pt COALWASWEALTH Size Up” for 100% of the buildings (yes, all residential too) in one of North America’s largest most densely populated Counties. I iterated on this early version with dozens of firefighters, inspectors, marshals and chiefs throughout 2014 & 2015. Having validated First Due as an innovative \"blue ocean\" solution, landing our first two paid Fire Departments as customers and recruiting 2 co-founders, we subsequently closed a successful seed round led by the New York Angels. This market traction and funding enabled my 2 co-founders to leave their full-time jobs and join First Due in March of 2016. Their leadership, contributions and sales-oriented backgrounds were critical in First Due navigating through the innovation \"valley of death\" and successfully \"crossing the chasm\". I helped grow First Due to 30x ARR, 50x clients, tier 1 channel partners, product market fit and a growing market presence and ever increasing sales pipeline. I departed the day to day operations of First Due as she entered her Growth Phase with top-notch operators in place but remain a large shareholder, trusted senior adviser to and huge fan of the company and its people.
