About Ed Sivak
Ed Sivak is the President of the Hope Enterprise Corporation. As President, Sivak leads the teams that drive the organization’s policy and advocacy agenda, its communications with members, community partners, and media, investor relations, human assets, and corporate administration. Since joining HOPE in 2001, the credit union has grown from a financial institution of $1 million in assets serving 1,200 people a year to one of the largest Black and women-owned financial institutions in America with over $1 billion in assets touching the lives of over people daily. He is also the co-founder of the Hope Policy Institute. During the pandemic, the Institute’s research was used to successfully advocate for changes to the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program to make it more accessible to borrowers of color and to inform the design of $12 billion in community development programs structured to meet the needs of low-income, rural and diverse communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis.Earlier in his career, Sivak coordinated numerous community development initiatives including a collaborative to support the recovery of over 500 small businesses in post-Katrina New Orleans and a $125 million partnership to expand economic opportunity in the Mississippi Delta. He has testified numerous times before the Mississippi Legislature and provided commentary for the Federal Housing Finance Agency and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and authored multiple papers on economic mobility and financial inclusion.He currently serves on the board of Inclusiv, the national network of Community Development Credit Unions where he chairs the Government Affairs Committee. He is also the Board President for One Voice, an organization dedicated to advancing voting rights, access to education and the pipeline of Black leadership in Mississippi. He is a former member of the Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council where he led the Community Affairs and Housing Subcommittee. In November 2017, he was appointed to the Jackson Public School Board, where he served in the roles of President and Vice President, and the Better Together Commission as part of a successful effort to prevent a takeover of the school district by the state of Mississippi.
