ABOUT EDOARDO MANCINI
A seasoned Aerospace Systems Engineering leader, EASA/FAA/UKCAA Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor and Aero-Astro Business Professional, Edoardo currently leads the Systems Engineering activities within QinetiQ’s Mission Rehearsal unit developing tactical and strategic capabilities for the UK Ministry of Defense. Together with the Defense and Intelligence senior leaders, he is currently supporting the company’s efforts in developing strategies for services and products in the field of Space Defense. He also runs AstrAero Engineering Ltd, an Air & Space consultancy providing services from Systems Engineering governance to Space Operations to Regulatory compliance training to senior and C-Level stakeholders.During the more than 15 years in the \"trenches\", He has supported and led the developments of many of the most exciting and novel technologies; from the most efficient Turbofan Engine - the Trent XWB - innovative spacecraft constellations for IoT and telecommunication infrastructure - Project 3Diamonds, SASNet (Pearls) or ELO 3 & 4 – to systems for heterogeneous constellation management within Space as a Service frameworks, like ESA sponsored program xSPANCION. Projects within companies as sound and as structured as Tier1 players OHB System AG, Rolls Royce plc, L3 Harris, SMEs as Reiss Engineering inc, AAC Clyde Space or trading startups like Sky and Space Global Ltd. UK.With over that 1100hrs across EMEA, APAC and NA regions, He has flown over 23 different types of aircrafts and 4 different spacecraft platforms, ranging from general aviation to widebody aircraft like the Boeing extending to 6U based platforms operating in Low Earth Orbit. He has extensive experience operating across boundaries, working with industrial and government actors at varied seniority levels, through complex international settings and regulatory environments. Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the International Council of Systems Engineering, He holds a BSc.\"Cum Laude\" in Aviation Management & Safety from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a BEng. in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering and an MSc. in Space Systems Engineering from the University of Southampton. As of May 2022, He is also an ex top 1% ESA Astronaut candidate.
